Hourly Before and After Care Coordinator

Job Description

 

Summary: 

Rainbow Summer Program is a 6-week summer educational enrichment program for 100 children who have completed grades K – 8.  Curriculum emphases include reading, financial literacy, gardening, nutrition, physical fitness, social action/community service, and parental involvement. This position will care for students who are dropped off for before care and students who stay for after care.

 

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Oversee before/after-school child care program.
  • Responsible for the safety and well-being of the children in the program.
  • Responsible for working with a team of two other staff members and volunteers to coordinate age appropriate activities for the after-school session.
  • Collect payment from parents for before / after-school care.
  • Develop and maintain spreadsheets to track attendance and fee payments.
  • Provide direction and support to volunteers.
  • Establish relationships with children and manage behavior as needed.
  • Collaborate with Program Director

 

Qualifications

  • Must be at least 18 years of age.
  • Must have a high school diploma or GED and some college experience.
  • Must possess awareness of diversity issues and have experience working with diverse populations.
  • Must have experience working with children and/or families.
  • Must understand the benefits of volunteerism. Experience in volunteering and supervising others is a definite plus.
  • Must have the ability to communicate in verbal and written form, lead and work with others in a team setting, and be flexible enough to handle the unexpected.
  • Must pass a background check.
  • Experience running an after-school program is a plus.
  • Fluency in Spanish preferred

 

Hours and Compensation:  The seasonal summer position is approximately 10 – 20 hours (M-F, 6:50 am – 8 am & 3:00 pm – 5:30 pm); 5/30- 7/31 at $17 hr.
