Job Description

The KCK Farmers Market is seeking an enthusiastic, passionate Market Manager for their weekly market. The Market Manager is responsible for executing market operations, interfacing with farmers, partners, and customers, creating a vibrant and welcoming market, and ensuring accurate reporting and use of food assistance benefits programs.
The Market runs Saturdays from June – September; the Market Manager position is seasonal, starting at 8-10 hours/week from June to mid-October. Position pays $18/hour. This position has the potential to increase to more hours dependent on funding.

Excellent communication and customer service skills, written and verbal
Strong organizational skills and close attention to detail.
Web and social media management skills; experience with Microsoft Office and Google Suite.
Creative self-starter with the ability to initiate and implement projects.
Ability to meet the physical job requirements of the position – i.e. lift 50 pounds, handle exposure to elements, be standing or walking for long periods (all day)
Must have access to reliable transportation, large enough to transport market canopy and supplies
Familiarity with local food, agriculture is a plus
Fluency in English; fluency in other languages (Spanish, Somali, Swahili, Burmese) is a plus

Market Responsibilities:
Ensure smooth day-to-day operation of the Market, including but not limited to set up and close down, transporting equipment and supplies, coordinating logistics like vendor arrival, set up, & breakdown, and administering transactions.
Responsible for communicating and enforcing market rules and regulations with support from the market board, mediating disputes, and responding to complaints from vendors and customers
Work closely with the Farmers Market Board to communicate ideas, identify potential problems, provide feedback, and offer creative solutions
Collect and maintain market metrics
Assist market board with special events and outreach initiatives
Administrative Responsibilities:
Partner in vendor process with Board Vendor Committee, including maintaining a vendor directory
Administer the Double Up Food Bucks program and Senior Vouchers program.
Submit agenda items and monthly manager’s report to the Board chair for monthly Board meetings.
Attend weekly staff meeting with co- chairs and monthly Board meetings
Develop consistent communication with market attendees regarding seasonal market offerings and special events including social media content
Collect and a report market data in metrics software
Join board members on farm tours as needed
